Wales International Academy of Voice returns to Wales Millennium Centre for a special fundraising Gala Concert in the BBC Hoddinott Hall.
Joining Academy students and Dennis O’Neill on stage this year will be the Italian soprano Nuccia Focile, and together they will perform popular duets and ensembles from a range of your favourite operas, accompanied by pianist Jane Samuel.
Tickets are available from the Wales Millennium Centre website. Click here for more information.
Caroline is delighted to be joining the John S. Davies Singers for the first time to sing the alto solos in Bach’s Mass in G Minor and Vivaldi’s Magnificat.
The concert will take place in the beautiful cathedral of St David in Pembrokeshire, a place which holds lovely memories for Caroline – it was here that she recorded with Serendipity and Vivace Singers for the St David’s Day edition of BBC’s Songs of Praise in 2001.

Caroline and her colleagues at WIAV have had the great privilege of working with the wonderful Della Jones this week. Caroline sang ‘Eboli’s final aria from Don Carlo, ‘O don fatale’, and thoroughly enjoyed both her session and listening to her colleagues work. Della’s expertise and guidance has been absolutely inspirational, and we are all hugely grateful to Dennis, Nuccia, Jane, Euros and WIAV for the opportunity. We hope she’ll be back soon!
The week continues with a gala concert (Wednesday March 26th 7:30) at the University Chapel at Trinity Saint David’s Carmarthen campus. Tickets cost £8 for full paying adults, £5 for concessions and £3 for children under 16. They are available by calling 01267 676806 (9.30am-12.30pm Mon-Fri) or by visiting www.ticketsource.co.uk/tsd. The programme includes Don Carlo, Manon, Don Giovanni and Les Contes d’Hoffmann amongst others, and should you feel like joining us, we promise to entertain you!
Our week, and indeed our term concludes with two days of masterclasses (27-28/03/2014) with Marie McLoughlin, and we look forward to welcoming her to WIAV and working on some more diverse repertoire.
Caroline is delighted to make her solo debut with Côr Caerdydd as alto soloist in Haydn’s ‘Nelson’ Mass alongside fellow WIAV colleague, soprano Llio Evans.
